Flowers of the prairie bring joy and calm to those struggling with cancer.
The evolution of this powerful mosaic collaboration entitled “Flowers of the Prairie” is astonishing and now hangs in the Avera Cancer Institute at the Avera Prairie Center on the Avera McKennan Hospital campus in Sioux Falls. Patients, staff, caregivers, and family members were encouraged to join me in creating a piece of the collaborative mosaic using pieces of stained glass, glued onto mesh, while they waited to receive treatments. We could escape together in this colorful, poignant public art piece.
