Flowers of the prairie bring joy and calm to those struggling with cancer.
The evolution of this powerful mosaic collaboration entitled “Flowers of the Prairie” is astonishing and now hangs in the Avera Cancer Institute at the Avera Prairie Center on the Avera McKennan Hospital campus. While patients, staff, caregivers, and family members gathered in the radiation oncology lobby, all were encouraged to join me in creating a part of the collaborative mosaic using stained glass glued onto a flower template. Together, we could briefly escape into this colorful, poignant public art piece.
